Thursday, May 09, 2024, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM EDT
Category: Workshop

(90-minute webinar – available live or on-demand)
Thursday, May 9, 2024
3:00 -4:30 PM Eastern

Trauma can occur anytime in a person’s life. With hospice care, it’s not limited just to the enrolled patient – their family and friends can be traumatized by any number of related events. Trauma can also manifest in a myriad of ways. Attend this webinar to get an expert assessment of trauma’s impact and learn more about intervention concepts and skills.

AFTER THIS WEBINAR YOU’LL BE ABLE TO:

  • Define and differentiate trauma, psychological trauma, PTSD, shock, complex-trauma, traumatic stress, re-traumatization, and others
  • Describe “medical trauma” and “caregiver trauma”
  • Address the effects of distress reactions on family dynamics
  • List two age-related trauma responses for key age groups
  • Name three key components of age-specific trauma-informed care
  • Explore hospice/palliative care-specific counseling interventions

WEBINAR DETAILS: Trauma happens to individuals and families regardless of demographic. For many, just the time between diagnosis and death can be a string of traumatic experiences. How often do we say, “This family is in denial” or “This is a difficult family”? But how often do we stop to ask why? In many situations, it may be impossible to achieve any level of pain and symptom management or family cooperation in significant planning without first addressing individual or family trauma. This webinar will take a close look at the concept of building trauma-informed practices and organizations. It will also explore trauma intervention concepts and skills for key age groups and demographics.

THIS WEBINAR WILL BENEFIT THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES: Hospice, Palliative Care

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? While this webinar is designed for team members who provide counseling, all team members will benefit from attending.
