Compliant Pre-Bill Audit Process for Hospice Billing
Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM EDT
Category: Workshop

(90-minute webinar – available live or on-demand)
Tuesday, June 18, 2024
 3:00 - 4:30 PM Eastern

While pre-bill auditing and billing compliance reviews are not riveting, these processes are absolutely essential to hospices in today’s climate of increased scrutiny. It isn’t enough to trust that someone is checking the documentation, you need a way to validate that those checks are comprehensive and accurate. This helpful webinar will benefit the people assigned to dot the Is and cross the Ts in a compliant way. Ensure your processes are top notch or risk lengthy and costly regulatory audits.

AFTER THIS WEBINAR YOU’LL BE ABLE TO:

  • Identify areas of risk in your pre-bill auditing that could potentially lead to denial for payment or Medicare recoupment
  • Improve the quality of your medical record review process prior to filing claims for payment
  • Implement a robust technical and clinical review process to ensure 100% compliance with billing requirements
  • Minimize the risk of billing errors and loss of revenue related to failure to successfully complete any claim review audit
  • Recognize that due diligence in billing is as important as (if not more important than) census growth because census doesn’t matter if you cannot get paid for the care provided

WEBINAR DETAILS: More hospices are finding themselves under an audit of some nature: TPE, ADR, SMRC, etc. Recent reports have indicated that up to 77% of hospices have been subject to TPE in the last five years and more than 50% have had to submit to more than one type of simultaneous audit. Depending on the quality of your pre-bill auditing and clinical eligibility, these audits can take one to three years to complete and lead to a significant loss of financial resources. This webinar will go through the regulatory requirements for claims and provide detailed information on what issues hospices are seeing as primary claim denials and how to proactively prevent these problems.

THIS WEBINAR WILL BENEFIT THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES: Hospice

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?  This informative session will benefit executive leadership, hospice owners, billing teams, business office managers, clinical managers, and compliance leaders.

MEET THE PRESENTER: Jen Kiehl, MBA, BSN, RN, Hospice Support Specialists

Jen Kiehl holds an MBA and has been a registered nurse since 1996. She started her hospice career in 2004 as a Clinical Director for a small start-up in rural Pennsylvania. Since then, she has held leadership positions at the local, regional, and national level for both large and small for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Jen has been sharing her expertise in growth, operations, compliance, and clinical strategy as an independent consultant since 2016. It is Jen’s philosophy that the growth of a successful hospice is dependent on a strong and compliant clinical program. There are no “sales” in hospice; census is built upon collaborative relationships that are founded in service excellence. Growth, however, is only a small component of a successful organization. In order to effectively lead a great program, managers must understand, evaluate, and drive all of the components that measure organizational excellence through well-defined, streamlined, and competitive processes.
