CMS identifies specific Conditions of Participation (CoPs) related to emergency management. This webinar will review the requirements for an effective emergency management plan and program, including communication, policies and procedures, training, and testing.

  • State the CMS requirements for emergency preparedness
  • Write an effective and compliant emergency management plan including EIDs
  • Evaluate your agency’s emergency management plan
  • Complete an agency risk assessment and hazards vulnerability analysis (HVA)

WEBINAR DETAILS: This webinar will address the specifics of creating and maintaining an effective, integrated emergency management plan and program. It will also address how to complete an HVA and risk assessment. Best practices will be reviewed to incorporate elements of your emergency management plan into other agency programs. Participants will learn about tabletop exercises, a plan outline, and how to meet the testing requirements for compliance. All required components of emergency management policy and procedure will also be reviewed. Since the ending of the PHE in 2023, agencies must once again maintain compliance with emergency management direction. This webinar will be a great way to get your agency back on board with the required regulations.

MEET THE PRESENTER: Kathy Ahearn, RN, BSN, PHN, ALECC, Inc.

Kathy Ahearn has bachelor’s degrees in nursing and social work and is the CEO and founder of ALECC, Inc., which provides consulting on the post-acute care experience, ranging from clinical staff to executive leadership. She has a unique ability to identify agency challenges and opportunities and quickly provide education, support, and mentoring to organizations. Kathy began healthcare work due to a disabled parent and later a child living with chronic disease. She has experienced healthcare professionally and personally, dedicating her life to it and to working as a change agent for the betterment of all served. 

Kathy helped develop pain scales to standardize assessment with the American Pain Society and the Joint Commission. She expanded into medical devices as a Managed Care Director, developing one of the first real-time cloud-based disease-specific software programs to assist patients, clinicians, and managed care organizations to improve outcomes and collect data.
