Category: Workshop

(60-minute webinar – available live or on-demand)
Thursday, June 13, 2024
3:00 - 4:00 PM Eastern

Bereavement risk assessments are required, but do you know how to conduct one? What are five key components? What type of counseling is required at admission? How do you address medium-to-high risk? What if someone is suicidal? Join this webinar to learn the answers to these questions and enhance your knowledge about risk assessments and counseling as they apply to providing outstanding bereavement services.

AFTER THIS WEBINAR YOU’LL BE ABLE TO:

  • List three potential challenges related to bereavement risk assessments
  • Name five key components of a comprehensive bereavement assessment
  • Identify three methods to address medium-to-high risk
  • Explain the importance of the Medicare requirement to provide grief counseling as needed beginning at the time of admission
  • Use three theoretical counseling frameworks to provide grief counseling specifically in complex situations

WEBINAR DETAILS: Agencies are required to conduct a bereavement risk assessment, yet many are not certain what needs to occur next. What happens if/when it is determined that a person is suicidal and high risk? Is it possible for someone to be low risk today, but then high risk tomorrow? Is it OK to send mailings to people who are medium-to-high risk as a stand-alone intervention? What does “counseling” mean when Medicare says it must begin at the time of admission? This webinar will answer these common questions within the framework of developing exceptionalism in bereavement care and counseling.

THIS WEBINAR WILL BENEFIT THE FOLLOWING AGENCIES: Hospice, Palliative Care
